Goodreads Summary: Football pro Mick Riley is an all-star, both on the field and in the bedroom. But a sexy, determinedly single mom just might be the one to throw him off his game…
For years Mick has been taking full advantage of the life available to a pro athlete: fame, fortune, and a different girl in every city. But when he meets and beds confident, beautiful event planner Tara Lincoln, he wants much more than the typical one-night stand. Too bad Tara’s not interested in getting to know football’s most notorious playboy any better.
As the single mother of a teenage son, the last thing Tara needs is the jet-set lifestyle of Mick Riley; even though their steamy and passionate one-night stand was unforgettable. Tara’s life is complicated enough without being thrust into the spotlight as Mick’s latest girl du jour. Tara played the game of love once and lost big, and she doesn’t intend to put herself out there again, especially with a heart breaker like Mick.
But when Mick sets his mind to win, nothing will stop him. And he has the perfect play in mind.

What I thought: I didnt know this was a series. I had read one of her other  Play-by- Play books not knowing that it was book 11 ( oh well ). This was the first book in the series. Mick is the Quarterback for the San Francisco Sabers. Mick is what every women would want. He is charming, good looking and smart. When his team has an post season party he see’s the woman that he helped find the office earlier that day. Tara Lincoln is a Event Planner. When she isn’t glammed up for an event you would find her in jeans and a t-shirt. She is down to earth and real. I think that is why Mick is drawn to her. You may see him with a model and other hot women but that all has to do with his image.  He is getting older and doesnt know how much longer he can keep playing. At first Tara thinks that Mick just wants sex and he will be over with it but he wants more. Tara tries to talk Mick out of getting to know one another by telling him she has a teenage son. The thing is Mick doesn’t care. Mick becomes close to both Tara and her son. They grow close and enjoy each other. I really like their relationship. I like how Mick is with Tara and her son. One of the problems that is standing in their way is his agent Elizabeth Darnell. She is tough, smart and sexy has hell. She always gets her way. Elizabeth wants the best for her clients and will do anything for them. But sometimes she thinks she knows what is best and doesn’t take into what the client really wants. She thinks that Mick needs to be seen with other famous people to keep current. She doesn’t like Tara coming in and jeopardizing everything she is working for. But when she takes it to far it could be the end of everything. I love Jaci Burton’s writing so much. I am waiting for my other books of hers to come in the mail. I would recommend any of her books from the play by play series to anyone. I would say you don’t have to read them in order but you will be spoiled to how the other relationship turn out. I gave this book a 5 out of 5 stars on Goodreads. The next book is Gavin’s. I cant wait until it comes in the mail. If you want I can write reviews for all of them. Let me know in the comments.
